Indira Nehar Gandhi

Filed under: History of India, Social Studies, TylerN, 6E —— tylern @ 10:55 pm

Let me tell you about an amazing women who once said “If I die a violent death as some fear and a few are plotting, I know that violence will be in the thought and the action of the assassin not in my death”. This amazing women’s name is Indira Gandhi, who was one of the first women to be elected prime minister of India.
Indira Nehra Gandhi was born November 19, 1917 to the future prime minister who was her father Jawaharlal. Her political life started when she was 12 years old. She led a children’s group that was trying to end the controlling of India by the British. Indira couldn’t wait till she was 21 so she could join the Indian National Congress Party (INCP) to continue her political life. Then in 1942 when she was 25 she married a journalist named Feroze Gandhi shortly after they were married British sent them to prison for 8 months when they got out they had 2 babies.
Indira traveled with her dad when he was prime minister because her mother died. This gave her the chance to meet famous political people. When Indira was 42 she became the fourth women to become president of INCP. A lot of people couldn’t read so they needed to be able to buy cheap radios so they could listen to the news.

On October 31,1984 she was assassinated by her bodygaurds they did this to get back at her for storming the Golden Temple.

A bus driving from Istanbul to Van with passengers crashed. The bus drove into a fast moving Kelkit River in Tokat provinces, 200 miles east of Ankara . The company operating the service said 39 people bought tickets but they say more people could have been on board, but it is not very clear how many people on the bus. One passenger managed to free himself and walk to a near by village to find help. A rescue team and divers found 16 bodies, most of them inside the bus. Some of the 16 bodies found were 12 miles down the river.

Hawaii

If I could go anywhere in the world I think it would be Hawaii. I have always wanted to go to Hawaii. I love to ride the waves at the beach in the summer. Wouldn’t it be cool if I could surf with trained sharks or dolphins? The weather is always so warm and the water is blue. I hope someday I really go to Hawaii.
