When You Left

When You Left
by Sarah D.

I’m lying in bed
Your voice is in my head
Can’t get you out of my mind
You were so friendly so kind
All the good times we had
Until we got really mad
Things have changed since you went away

My heart is empty
Everythings a blurr
I wish things were back to how they were
Things have changed since you went away

Everythings quiet
I don’t know what to do
All I can say is that I really miss you
Things have changed since you went away

Everythings different
Everythings changed
And now that your gone things won’t be the same
Things have changed since you went away

Indira Gandhi

Filed under: History of India, Social Studies, SarahD, 6H —— sarahd6h @ 11:00 pm

On November 19th, 1917, Indira Gandhi was born. Little did she know that she would go down in history in the future. She was born in Allahabad too! When she got older she studied at Visva-Bharati University in Bengal, then when she felt like she knew enough, she enrolled in the University of Oxford in England. Later on, a very tragic accident happend.Kamala Kual Nehru, which was her mother, died. She passed away in 1936.Soon after this took place, in 1938 she graduated collage and went on with life, and decided to join the Indian National Congress for Indian Independance. Then her love life approached, and she married Parsi, Feroze Gandhi. Later she had her first child, it was a boy, then her second, which was another boy! Finally the Indians won their Independance in 1947. Then another one of those tragic moments brought another death, Indira’s husband passed away in 1960.Trying to get over her husbands loss, before she knew it she was the prime minister of India. Indira Gandhi was then assassinated in 1984.

What I learned from this paperhttp://www.sscnet.ucla.edu/southasia/History/Independent/Indira.html was that she became the prime minister of India. Before I wrote this and took notes I never knew that. Another thing i learned from this paper is that she had two boys, im excited to know that now! I believe Indira Gandhi was a very brave and unique woman, she made it so far and she helped India win its independance. I think back then she was a very inspiring person to many others and even now she still is. She is a great role model.

Space dust collected!

Filed under: 6H Newsbreak, Newsbreak - Week 1, International Newsbreak, SarahD, 6H —— sarahd6h @ 11:03 pm

Hi, I’m here to tell you about (the) space dust collected! I wasn’t one of the people chosen to do the news blogs, but I thought I would anyway because not many people in 6h did them so I thought I might help out a little! On January 15th, the space craft, “Star Dust” returned to earth after a seven year journey that had a mission to collect dust from space to learn how our solar system was created which was 4,550 million years ago. They also obtained dust from the close encounter with a comet! It will be interesting to see the data that the scientist(s) obtained from this experiment. I know this is a little bit short but it still gives good and interesting information.

My favorite place to go!!!!

If i could go anywhere in the world, it would definitly be California because that is where Dylan Sprouse lives! I would go to Hollywood, meet Dylan Sprouse, get an augtograph, then he would ask me out and we would be boyfriend and girlfriend! As we get older he would propose and i would say “YES” and get married! Brianna would get married to his brother, Cole. Also way before I even met Dylan I would become a very rich and famous actress. I would also go there because of the beautiful landscape!

Suez Canal Paper by Ali, Brianna, and Sarah

Filed under: Suez Canal, AliR, BriannaL, SarahD, 6H —— allir @ 11:03 pm

(Ali) Are you ready to learn about the Suez Canal? (Brianna) Well now is your chance. We will tell you about the human characteristics, history and, physical characteristics!

Now for the human characteristics. The suez canal connects the mediterranean sea to the red sea. It is usually titled “the crossroads of Europe, Africa, and, Asia ” because countries on those continents transport goods to other countries around the world. By taking the suez canal, people shipping goods from, for example, England to India, can cut 6,000 miles off their journey because they don’t have to go around Africa now that the suez canal is in business. now I will hand it off to Brianna, Briannas part of the story will be on the Suez Canals history.

Thanks Ali the history on the Suez Canal is very interesting it starts like this. The Suez Canal has had a very very important history. Said Pasha started this big project. He had many egyptions who were beeten to finish this incredible task. They began construction on the 25th of April, 1859. Then after all the hard work people put into the Suez Canal it finally opened in 1869. On August 25th 1882 the British took contrle of the canal. Then after a long period of time, it was restored to Egypt this back and forth of the owners, from Britain to Egypt, happend a couple more times. then on June 5th 1975 it was closed and blocked by Egypt. there were also many presidents of the Suez Canal company. one of them was Charles Jonnart. He was president from 1913 till 1927 through this period he played an important part of the canals history!!! Today the Suez Canal is open to every nation that is the way it should stay for years to come.

Now you will hear from Sarah with the physical characteristics!

Now I will tell you about the physical characteristics of the Suez Canal. The canals long length reaches to 193 km or 101 miles. The width of the canal is 365.3 m. The distence between the booy’s is 205.18 m. it is from 58 feet to 68 feet deep. thats one HUGE canal. Very large ships weighing from 300,000 tons to 500,000 tons can pass freely through this canal because of its size.

Now you know a lot more about the Suez Canal
