The Giver Play

On Tuesday, March 28, 2006, our sixth grade group went to a play based on the award winning book The Giver. I’m about to tell you about what happened during this play and how the play was related to the book.

The play in many ways was similar to the book, but in many ways wasn’t. However I will start with the positives and how the play was similar to the book. The play followed the main story line fairly well and I would rate this part (1-10) about a 7.5. Also most of the characters were there like, Jonas, Fiona and Asher. BUT they left out one of the key players in Jonas’s finding out what a release was. They left out Larrisa who told Jonas of Roberto, the old man who was released in a glorious ceremony. But there was about only one other BIG problem I picked out and that was that the actors did not use bikes like the people did in the community. Insted they used scooters!

Overall the play was a fun experience, my favorite part was when the Giver was transmiting the memories to Jonas and they used a projecter to project the memories that he was receiving on a wall.

I would recommend this play to whoever loves a mystery type of story with suspense added.

Ghandi and the Freedom of India!

Mohandas Ghandi was A great leader as you may all know. Infact, he even led the entire country of India to its independence from the super power of the 1800’s, Great Britain. But before he had done all of these amazing things he had to be born right?

Ghandi was born and raised in a town called Poorbander. He slowly became and there. Then he moved to London where he studied the art of law and became an attorney. After a while being an attorney he moved to South Africa where he finally decided he had had enough with all this crazy Brittan leading South African countries! One reason he had chosen this is because there was a lot of going on there. One example of this is, one of the train officials on a train he was riding kicked him out of his first class seat because he was black! He then protested non-violently by calling a meeting in the center of a town in South Africa he there burned the passes that showed that the citizens there were well.. citizens and saying that this is our first step of independance! He continued this defience until the guards that were there beat him senceless! Talk about guts. After this he continued protesting with a crowd that just kept growing and growing. FINALLY in 1947 after years of protesting Ghandi who was now in OLD OLD age finally won the non-violent battle.

Ghandi is now remembered through out the Indian country and has an everlasting flame memorial above his grave. Just recently George W. Bush visted them and threw flowers on his grave as a sign of respect to all the things he had done and to the country for following him.

I got this info from

This Site!

When I wrote this paragraph I learned belive it or not that Ghandi was not a female!hahaBut I also learned about all the amazing things he has done. I have only wrote a small portion of things he has done above in the post. Also when I was searching the web for info I dicovered what he looked like too. Overall this project allowed me to learn MANY things about Mohandas Ghandi!

Experience in Florida as a Kid

Well as almost everyone knows that I used to live in Florida but I just want to give you a feeling of what it was like to live there. From age 1-5 I lived in Florida and unlike most people I remember alot of what happened to me in my early age. In fact I still remember going to Disney like 1,000 times and still remember it inside and out. It was tons of fun. We could literally go to Disney every day if we wanted to but that would be alot of gas money! We also lived fairly close to the beach but never really went there alot.

Plane Design Game

This is a fun educational game that we played last year in science to learn about aircraft and how they work! In this game you can design and test your own aircarft then you can deliver it to the manager and see if she approves of it. If she doesn’t then go back to the drawing board and fix the problems. If she says yes then…. congrats! Your plane has past the test to play this really fun game go to this website… www.planemath.com

Remeber all the stuff about planes you learned last year and you will be able to build the private plane of your dreams!

Also make sure you have the most recent version of Shockwave or else you can’t play!

HAVE FUN!

Nascar fans here it comes!

Well it looks like another exiting season for nascar is coming our way! There’re alot of changes too, for example Mikey Waltrip is no longer in the #15 Napa chevey anymore and Jeff Gordon now has Nicorette as a sponser(of course he still has his famous Du-pont Chevey!) Also there’re are some new drivers for example, Denny Hamilin who just Sunday (the 16) won the Bud shootout at Daytona! (Jeff got stuck in traffic and one of the cars slowed down and took out Jeff. But it sure does look already like an exiting season with the rookie, new driver, Denny Hamilin winning the Bud shoot out! NASCAR FANS GET READY BECAUSE THIS WILL BE THE BEST SEASON IN THE 21st CENTRY!!!!!! Well as Darrell Waltrip always says ” bogity bogity bogity boys lets go racing!”

Ryan J’s Black Spotted Lemur

Ryan J (Science Project for Mr. Larwence))

NEWS FLASH!
Scientists have just discovered the Black Spotted Lemur!
Discovered by Ryan J

The Black spotted Lemur was just recently found in the Tiberian Jungle in Tuswania. The lemur has many behaviors that affect its living in the jungle. Here are some of its instincts and behaviors. The lemur will hunt and put its prey (usually a rat or other small animal) up in its tree. This lemur is very territorial and will kill any animal if it comes into its territory. This lemur can run at speeds up to 65 mph! WOW huh? This lemur will usually learn to swim at an early age too. The lemur will usually sleep about 14 hours of the day and will only come out during the late part of the day. The Lemur also, as an instinct, will run from any known predator. Also if it hears a loud sound or something that may cause it harm then it will STOP, LOOK, LISTEN, and if the coast is clear then it keeps doing its business. The lemur will carry its baby lemur on its back to keep its gentle skin from touching the ground; the skin will get tougher as it gets older. The baby lemur will start with what looks like a Ring Tailed Lemur’s tail but once again as it gets older it will get its leopard tail. This animal will grow short but very sharp claws which will allow it to climb trees better.

Court Ship Maneuvers

While Ryan J was strolling through the Tiberian Jungle looking for the recently discovered Black Spotted Lemur he saw two of them looking as if they were doing some sort of Courtship maneuvers. So he decided to watch the two Lemurs and see if they were mating. Sure enough they were. He had discovered the courtship maneuvers of the Black Spotted Lemur. He was kind enough to tell us the maneuvers and here they are……..1. The Male will rub against the Female. 2. Then he will push her head down while the female is resisting with all her strength to see if the sperm will be strong enough. 3. Then they will mate (And live happily ever after ha just kidding!) 4. The job of the male is now done. The female will now raise the offspring and teach it everything it knows.

The Black Spotted Lemur may not be the only new species. There could be many many more as we are coming into this new era. Stay tuned to the World Report News Paper as we look for “Unknown Species”

Dear Fredrick in America (my Turkish paper)

Filed under: Ataturk letter, Social Studies, RyanJ, 6H —— ryanj6h @ 5:26 pm

Dear Fredrick in America,

Just 2 weeks ago our leader Kemal Ataturk died so I decided to tell you a bit about him and what he has done to our country, Turkey. Ataturk was a great leader. One of the great things he did was give the women in our country the right to vote. Even though there was only one party to vote for, Him!! But the women could now vote for governors and other smaller political leaders. The only thing I disagreed with him about was the fact that he outlawed the fez hats! I personally think that the fez hats were a part of our traditional religion and that that was a bad thing to do. But away from the negatives, Ataturk modernized our country and I believe that our country would still be too ancient to survive without him. Also, without him we wouldn’t have all these modern things like, busses, trams, skyscrapers and cars. So now that Ataturk is gone first off we don’t have our great leader to lead us but we also don’t even have a leader. Who will lead us next? Well that’s all I know about Kemal Ataturk, Your friend in Istanbul, Turkey, Muslima Alli

War in Iraq(Operation Iraqi Feedom)

Personally I believe that the war in Iraq is necessary but you can think different if you want to. The Iraq War is not to just make the Iraqi people more like us but also to save them. Some people think the reason we went in there was just change their country, which is true, but we also went in there to save our people! If we left Saddam Hussain in power then he would have most likely attacked our country too! Also he would have killed many more innocent Iraqi people lives. Also we went to their country to free them. Freedom doesn’t come free! I am glad that we have freed them and now they have a new constitution and elected a new president.

Super Bowl XL(40)

This past February the 40th aniversary of the super bowl took place with the Sea Hawks and the Steelers. (yah Sea Hawks) The Bowl was very close starting with the Sea Hawks scoring a field goal and starting off the game with a 3 point lead! But the Steelers fought back and scored a  touchdown and took the lead. The score was now 7-3 Steelers. Then the Sea Hawks fought back and scored a great touchdown! But….. The ref put out a flag! (I don’t think it should have come out but it did) The player that scored the touchdown pushed off the player guarding him and then scored the “touchdown”. Therefor, the touchdown did not count. Then later the Steelers intercepted the ball during what would have been a touchdown play for the Seahawks which would have put them in the lead! They ended up scoreing agian! The score was now 14-7 Steelers. Then miraculously the Sea Hawks got the ball and scored. The score now 14-14 tied. The Sea Hawks desperately needed a touchdown to win. But things went opposite for the Seahawks as the Steelers got another touchdown in the mid-fourth quarter. The Sea Hawks tried desperately to get at least one touchdown but they failed and the final score was 21-14 sniff sniff… Steelers:-( (sorry Steelers fans but I was rooting for the Sea Hawks) The Super Bowl was over but it will be one to reamember

All About Me

My “hero” is Jeff Gordon and I love NASCAR racing. I myself am a great racer and hope to perticipate in a go-cart league (like my Uncle). I LOVE Disney world and my grand parents Nana and Baba, who live in Kissimee Florida, and works at Disney. My Dad works at an airplane engine producer. If I don’t get a job as a profesional NASCAR driver (which is likely) then I hope to get a good job in the aircraft engine industry. I am also a good athlete. I can run very fast, in fact I’m almost the fastest kid in the grade. Yes I said almost. Shane, Keith, Brianne, Alex, and a few others are still faster than me. My favorite baseball team is the Boston Red Sox and my favorite football team is the New England Patriots. My life is great and I believe that I have a great future.

The Easy Button

The easy button is small yet very bugging. Whenever I walk around Mr. H’s room all I hear is “That was easy”, “That was easy”, “THAT WAS EASY.” Anyway like I said it is small. It comes from a family of Easy buttons and their names are, Papa Easy, Momma Easy, and Mr.Easy(our easy button). But there is a problem! About a year ago Staples stole Mr. Easy and cloned him about 40 million times! Now in every Staples there are Easy buttons everywhere! Poor Mr. Easy is now a marketing item and is now Staples motto “That was easy!”And somewhere he is stuck somewhere in a box at a Staples somewhere in the world. :-( Who knows, maybe we have the real Mr. Easy!
