Awesome sites

Surprisingly, nobody has posted anything for quite awhile…( it took me an hour to remember my password) And seeing how the summers almost over, it would be wise to go on your PC. While you do so, here are some sites to visit. Go to YouTube for all the latest videos(in fact in a article I read they are trying to purchase every music video ever made) For awesome games to make your hand-eye-coordination better go to, JoyTube. Have a good end of the summer everyone.

Nintendo Revolution by Matt

Video games, friendly fun and kind of exciting… well my favorite of the three leading video game company’s is, Nintendo. This company has been known for “Kid friendly”, video games. Right now they are planning to make a new console called, “Nintendo Revolution”, as the name suggests this will be a ,”Revolution”, for Nintendo. The most important thing about this is the controller of this will be a T.V. like control. This will also have a motion sensor. (talk about “Playing a game”), this is supposed to launch in the summer of 0′6. Who knows what’s next for Nintendo?

I got my information here

Buddhism in India

Filed under: History of India, Social Studies, MattM, 6H —— mattm6h @ 10:50 pm

Buddhism, a form of religion started in India around 500 B.C., was based on one god named (obviously) Buddha.  He was sometimes called “The Enlighted One” and was born in Nepal. This religion was started by a man named Gautama Siddhartha.  A lot of people believed in this religion.  In fact, today’s Buddhist total population is about 359,981,000.  They had a sacred book, like any other religion, called the Tripitika.  It was full of Buddha’s laws and teachings.  Buddhism had three teachings which were all different in various ways.  One of them was called the Hinayana teachings.  Another was called the Mahayana.  The final one was called Vajarayana teachings.  All of these teachings had a different appearance of Buddha.  Most of these had Buddha appearing to be large and a few had Buddha appearing to be normal sized.

This experience learning about Buddhism taught me that there are many kinds of the same religion but they are all practiced differently.  For example, I didn’t know much about all three kinds of Buddhism and that they all had the same god.  I also didn’t know why people had different ideas about the way Buddha looked, but I found out that it’s because of their type of Buddhism.

By the way, what do YOU think Buddha looks like?

Ataturk Essay

Filed under: Ataturk letter, Social Studies, MattM, 6H —— mattm6h @ 12:24 am

Dear New American Friend,

Hello. Apparently, the Unites States and Turkey are much different. Our former leader, Ataturk (who was called the “father of the Turks”) has just recently passed away. Like your culture, when he was alive, we could wear much of the hats you wear. He also made some rules about hats in general; he said that this hat (which we can now wear), a fezz, was not allowed to be worn. The reason people were so angry about this rule was that since we are very religious and pray five times a day toward Mecca (holy city), we must have our heads touch the ground. Well, since most hats have a brim, every time our heads touched the floor we hit our heads! So, we made a hat without a brim. He decided to just ignore people’s wanting of it; not to be mean, but his real intention was to give us new ideas. BY that I mean we have worn these hats for a very long time. So I guess you would say, “Out with the old and in with the new.” That isn’t the only rule change he made; he also wanted to give women equal rights, voting, getting educated, getting rid of the veils that covered women’s faces, and even the right to do a job. I agreed with a lot of these rules (except for the fezz rule). Hopefully, soon, we will have a new leader. Bye for now.

Your new Turkish friend,

Pedro

Suez Canal By Matthew M Kosta Z and Nick P

Filed under: Suez Canal, KostaZ, NickP, MattM, 6H —— kostaz @ 5:18 pm

Ah,the Suez Canal a brilliant piece of history, people, and enginering. First I’ll speak of its engineering. Stretching about 101 miles it connects the Red Sea to the Mediteranean Sea. Without the canal traders from around the world would have to make a 6,000 mile extra journey. After a great deal of work the canal finally opened in 1869. The debt of this canal put Egypt in its place of not being able to pay it off. Great Britian then took it from them. After a series of wars Eygpt signed a treaty saying the canal is free to all nations.

Next the history of the Suez Canal! The history of the Suez Canal is very very interesting. Lets start from point A the year it was attempted to be built but failed because of sand storms that clogged it up. About 150 years ago England had a massive trade with India, but theirs a hitch the ships would have to go around South Africa without the canal. The canal cut the trip about 6,000 miles. In 1956 an Egyption president took the canal and declared it property of Egypt. Egypt had to fight 3 awful wars against Isreal to get it back. Now you know abit of the Suez Canals history. Now you know about an extrordinary piece of work….the Suez Canal

Where I want to go in the world

If I had a choice of where I want to go It would most likely be Japan. The reason is I’ve been noticing if there is some type of technology they get it first and I love Japanese food. But it would also be fun to go to China but Japan is smaller. (easier to find places).
