Indira Gandhi

(1917-1984)

Indira Gandhi was born in 1917. She spent part of her childhood in Allahabad India. The other part was spent in Switzerland. She was the only child of Kamla and Jawaharlal Nehru. Her father Jawaharlal Nehru was Indias first Prime Minister from 1947-1964. She recived her college education at Somerville College, Oxford. While her father was in office she joined him on many foreign trips. At the age of 25 she married Feroze Gandhi in 1942. He died in 1960. She then rose in the government of India until she was elected Prime Minister in 1966. She was Prime Minister of India from 1966-1977 and 1980-1984. She was assassinated in 1984. She is to this day a great role model for the woman of India. She said “Even if I died in the service of the nation, I would be proud of it. Every drop of my blood… will contribute to the growth of this nation and to make it strong and dynamic.”

While studying Indira Gandhi I learnd that no life is without meaning. Even though she was a indian women she made a great diffrence in India and to woman around the world. She showed people that woman can do everything man can. Thank you Indira for changing the world.

“There are two kinds of people, those who do the work and those who take the credit. Try to be in the first group; there is less competition there.”

Trial Delayed?

by Keith C

saddam picture

Recently Saddam Husseins trial was delayed. Why you ask? Because in Iraq where the trial will be held a minor hold up has occured. There was a new chief of the trial panel appointed to the trial. Which caused bickering between the other judges. Which resulted in a 5 day delay of the trial which was scheduled to resume on Tuesday Jan 24 will now be resumed on sunday Jan 29. Judge Hussein Moussawi , says ” this is just an excuse to give the judges time for long disscusions”. These long disscusions are needed to resolve issues surounding the bump in the road from getting their panel mixed up. This panel has lost two other members in the month long recces. Some of Saddams lawyers have been killed by people that do not want him to get off. I feel Saddam has killed many people and should be convicted. I also feel that this delay of the trial is not neaded very much. If they’re professional judges they should be able to resume the trial on time no matter what goes on in their trial panel. Well now you know my opinion and most of whats going on in Iraq. If you want to look this story up further go to the link below:

Hello people of grade 6 or the world! It’s me Keith. I’m just sitting at home doing my homework and thought i’d log in and say something. Other than China I would love to go to Venice in italy. I’ve wanted to go there ever since my sister went on a trip there and brought back photographs of the canals and water taxi’s. Then I read a book called The Thief Lord which took place in Venice. That is a great book. But my interest in Venice increased when i herd of times square and all the historical landmarks in Venice and the rest of Italy to. But the food and ice cream makes my hope to go visit Italy and Venice even bigger. My interest in Venice and Italy will grow over the year. I am sure of this because we recently got our first pen pal letters from our friends in Italy. Well i got to go finish my homework. I will make sure i log in again soon. :)

If I could go anywere in the world I want to it would be China. I would like to go to China because there is so many people there and almost all toys and video games were made in China. And so many other things happen in China that very rarly happen in the United States. But one of my bigest reasons is that they have so many stores and things there and thats why I want to go to China.
