Nintendo Revolution by Matt

Video games, friendly fun and kind of exciting… well my favorite of the three leading video game company’s is, Nintendo. This company has been known for “Kid friendly”, video games. Right now they are planning to make a new console called, “Nintendo Revolution”, as the name suggests this will be a ,”Revolution”, for Nintendo. The most important thing about this is the controller of this will be a T.V. like control. This will also have a motion sensor. (talk about “Playing a game”), this is supposed to launch in the summer of 0′6. Who knows what’s next for Nintendo?

I got my information here

SPORE - A sneak preview.

Spore Screen Shot Spore screen shot
Later this year, Will Wright, the creator of “The Sims,” will release Spore, a new game unlike any other. The game utilizes artificial intelligence allowing players to construct a universe one decision at a time. The games life forms, structures and atmosphere are designed by the player, and mathematical algorithms create the game actions based on the player’s designs. This system of game design is called procedural generation. In Spring of 2005, Mr. Wright presented a video of his game to the 2005 Game Developer’s Conference. Click on the link below to see the game video and hear Will Wright’s presentation.

What do you think? Do you like this game? How is this game different from your “average” computer game?

Tamagotchi’s!

Filed under: SaraH, 6V, Games —— sarah @ 10:37 pm

Tamagotchi’s

Have you ever wondered what a Tamagotchi is? Well…I’ll tell you! It’s a virtual hand-held pet! You feed them, Play games with them, Give them Time-Outs (HeHe…), Buy items at the shop, Connect them and so much more! When you first get a Tamagotchi you get to set the time and date and then you wait for the Egg to hatch and see If you get a girl or boy. Then you name him or her. I named mine Abby and Alice. If you dont feed them for awhile they can even…Die! But you dont want to that to happen, so always do what the Tamagotchi needs, or else you know what… Eventually, Your Tamagotchi will even evolve and turn into a somewhat new creature (kind of like a Pokemon)! I would say more about Connecting with other Tamagotchi’s but I dont know how to do that exactly yet, because I’m still learning too! Ohh…I almost forgot, I just found out If you leave an older Tamagotchi alone for awhile (1 hour+), It may fly away and never return, dreadful, I know! By the way, there are some Tamagotchi animations below, however, the animations do not happen to all Tamagotchi’s, there are many paths a Tamagotchi could take in terms of evolving. Enjoy!

Information From My Mind.

Animations from here.

P.S. How do I link to my mind?

Runescape by AnnB

Runescape is an online adventure game by Jagex. When you sign up for Runescape you first select your age then you type in a username of your choice and check the availability then you read and agree to the terms & conditions, and you’re finshed signing up. Then you play!! First you select a world (my favorite world is 85) and sign in.  After signing in you create a person then the game takes you through training island where you learn to play. After that you’re on Runescape.  I recommend going and destroying a few goblins so you can get Runescape money.  The best item to buy with your Runescape money (that willl help you the most) is a newcomer map.  It will tell you where you are on Runescape.  After that you should have fun and meet new people.  Who knows, they could be from China or France.  But remember don’t give out personal information.  It is ok to say your country.  It’s interesting to learn where in the world people are from.  If you need help on Runescape my name is leofire94.   I’ll be sure to help you!!

Plane Design Game

This is a fun educational game that we played last year in science to learn about aircraft and how they work! In this game you can design and test your own aircarft then you can deliver it to the manager and see if she approves of it. If she doesn’t then go back to the drawing board and fix the problems. If she says yes then…. congrats! Your plane has past the test to play this really fun game go to this website… www.planemath.com

Remeber all the stuff about planes you learned last year and you will be able to build the private plane of your dreams!

Also make sure you have the most recent version of Shockwave or else you can’t play!

HAVE FUN!

The History of Rubik’s Cube.

Filed under: Mathematics, Mr. H, Games —— Mr. Hetherington @ 1:46 pm

Sam M. posted an interesting statistic this morning about Rubik’s cube.

Did you know Rubik’s cube was invented by Erno Rubik in Hungary in 1974. One of his biggest challenges was to invent a mechanism to allow rotation of three rows in two directions. He finally solved the problem by using a central cylinder. Although invented in 1974, a failing communist economy in Hungary and western toymaker beliefs that the cube was difficult to manufacture and too complex to interest teens delayed the Rubik Cube’s debut outside of Hungary until 1980. Once introduced, the growth in popularity of the cube was explosive. By 1982, only two years after it’s introduction, it was estimated that one of every three households in the western world owned at least one of these now world famous puzzles.

To learn more about the history of the cube, go to http://www.rubiks.com/lvl3/index_lvl3.cfm?lan=eng&lvl1=inform&lvl2=medrel&lvl3=histry

For 5 bells…. Name the Hungarian city where Erno Rubrik lived when he invented the Rubik Cube.

Do you have a Rubik’s Cube in your house?

If so, have you solved it? How long does it usually take you?
