Good Night Moon

Filed under: Poetry, AllieB, 6V —— allieb @ 10:20 pm

Say good night moon before rest because tomorrow there will be sun,

Say good night moon every night because tomorrow it maybe gone

Say good night moon every night for there maybe no tomorrow and no moon

Say good night moon for it’s there to listen to you and lull you to sleep

Say good night moon cause I said so!

Live Each Day

Live Each Day……

By Allie B

Live each day like the sun won’t come up again,

Live each day like the world will blow tomorrow,

Live each day like you were dying

Live each day to it’s fullest

Life doesn’t have a purpose with- out the kid that sits behind you just to make you crack up!

Live each day like it will be your last laugh

Live each day like the person you love most will disappear

Live each day for the smiles will fade

Live each day peacefull and happy

Live each day until it’s your last!

Dedicated to all those who take their life for granted.

Student Council by AllieB

Filed under: Classroom Happenings, AllieB, 6V —— allieb @ 10:15 pm

As student council is coming to end and the new elections are being held next year I think. I better inform you all about it!

Student council is an excellent program. That is why you should run for it! The awesome activities after school are sure to keep you busy! There are also meetings every other Friday morning. We also hold dances, activity nights and fundraisers, such as the candy stick sale. Council members help collect food for drives and help out with things such as the upcoming art show. Also we get into most sponsored dances free!

There is also our director, Mr Jollif! He is very nice and fun and keeps us all in line. He organizes our field trips to conferences, our fun dances and activity nights. He also greets us every morning with an announcement sheet. Some(times) we can talk on the morning annoucements. Mr J also goes and gets us donuts, o.j. and bagels. All in all Mr J rocks!

Last but not least is the meetings. Each meeting is semi packed with fun ideas and thoughts for the up coming events. We discuss the last event we held and talk about how much $money$ we made. We have so much fun, sometimes we goof around but you didn’t hear it from me! Student council is the greatest activity in school and keeps you always busy!

So next year I hope you run for the fun and fantastic Student Council!

Can We sign your cast Barbaro?

Filed under: Animals, AllieB, 6V —— allieb @ 9:35 pm

Barbaro the winner of the Kentucky Derby broke his legand had 23 screws put in during his 5 hour surgery! Barbaro is supended in a warm water pool during recovery and will stay there as long as possible. They might have put him down since the surgery cost a little under 1 million dollars and he will suffer much pain at times, not to mention the risk of disease. They have decided to keep him alive because he is an expensive horse and can be kept for breeding. Although he may not live ( he only has a 50% chance of surviving) he legend will. The day started and he was ready for the race. He had already won the Kentucky Derby! A false start was called on him. He must have been nervous and excited all at once, and could have popped the bone slightly in the false start. As he made his way out his was some 8/13 around the track when the jockey must have heard a pop! The jockey stopped him from going on(this is only what I have heard from the onlookers ) “they saved his live” some one said! But he is alive and now is recovering!

Gandhi, The Man Who Changed Everything

Gandhi

The Man Who Changed The Meaning of Peace

By Allie B

Mohandas K. Gandhi, “Who was he?” you may ask. Born on October 2, 1869 in the state of Gujarat, Western India. Gandhi married Kasturbai Makanji at the age of 13. He was sent in 1891 to London, to pursue law. Then he traveled to Southern Africa where he endlessly worked to improve the rights of Indian immigrants. He was frequently jailed because of the protests he led against injustice. After radically changing the life of the immigrants he returned to his wife and children in 1915. Gandhi then took the lead in the struggle to fight for independence from Britain. Gandhi believed to do this in a nonviolent matter. And when the Muslims and Hindus were fighting Gandhi fasted until the fighting ended. Then independence came in 1947, a triumph for Gandhi. Then suddenly after protests against appalling violence, Gandhi was assassinated, at age 79, January 30, 1948. Yet Gandhi still lives with us, with the Hindis the Indian immigrants and people all over the world, Gandhi made a difference. And just think, when you say you don’t have enough time in a day, you have the same amount of time as this one incredible, amazing man, the same amount of time.

“Be the change you want to see in the world.”

An eye for an eye makes the whole world blind.

-Mohandas K. Gandhi

Michelle Bachelet, just sworn in yesterday becoming Chille’s first woman president. Ms. Bachelet is a medical doctor and was previously a defence minister. Michelle and her mother were held and tortured by Chille’s dictatorship. They ran away to Australia after being released and lived mostly in Sydney and spent time in Melbourne.”Our strength will be the women,” Bachelet, 54, told a large crowd(mostly female) of thousands downtown as she made her initial address as chief of state from the presidential palace, La Moneda. “In Chile, there will be no forgotten citizens. This is my promise.”

“We want a more prosperous, more just, more equal, more inclusive future,” Ms. Bachelet told thousands of cheering Chileans from the balcony of the government palace in Santiago.”I shall keep my word. I shall tell you what I think and I shall do what I say. I give you my word as a woman,” she said. Dr.Bachete is only the second elected female leader in South America!
