Filed under: History of India, AlexK, 6L —— alexk @ 8:03 pm

Buddhism started In India about 2500 years ago by Gautama the Budda. He grew up and married a young princess and had kids. He went into a town that he never knew or been in. The princess name was Karma. They believed in gods. Gautama is going to be the future religious leader. Buddah is a big person that is fat and was a religion for India. I have learned [alot] about India. India is a big country and Buddhism is their most [popular] religion. India is a crowded area and they have a river that is holy and they bath in it. Buddhism is a large religion [in] South Asia. Budda means awakened one. Gautama died at age 80 in Kushnara. Peopl believe that ther are two different kinds of budda. People also believe that he looked like a fat person and a skinny people. I found this information at Information-Enertainment.com.

Mesopotamia

Filed under: Social Studies, AlexK, 6L —— alexk @ 10:52 pm

We talked about Mesopotamia in class on Tuesday. We saw on the movie about a person who discovered a lost city named UR. This city was very old and was underneath the ground. There were lots of people looking for this city. A person found a cemetery with lots of dead people in it. A couple of scientists went in and found a tomb with a baby and a mother and found gold things that women wore. A person named Sir Leonard Williams was in Mesopotamia for 12 years and was a archaeologist who discovered ancient things like gold and rocks with writing on them.
There are many interesting facts we learned from the video. Farmers made farmland next to a river so plants can grow. There were luscious green grass trees all around the people who lived there. Also people lived and slept on the top of their homes so the hot air could escape from the homes. People would climb trees to get dates from them and make win with it. In the older times women would still make bread like we still do.
Some people learned to read and write. Lugal-gal meant big man in that language. A person discovered rocks with writing on them that people used when they were in school and home. I think it was in Egyptian. When kids were late for class they got beaten up. If they got beaten up all the time they could die.

The Smallest Fish

Filed under: Newsbreak-Week 3, 6L Newsbreak, International Newsbreak, AlexK, 6L —— alexk @ 10:10 pm

Did you know about the smallest fish called Paedocyris Progenetica? The fish is in the carp (family) and lives in acidic tea colored water in Sumatra in Indonesia. Its body is completely see-through. Its head has no strong bones. It has bizarre grasping fins. It is about a quarter of an inch long. It is a male angle fish and its habitat will disappear. If you want more information about it go on http://www.timeforkids.com

Russia

The reason I like Russia is because I would like to try to eat the food. I would like to see the buildings and the Russian dances and learn to dance. Another thing is that I would like to speak the language and meet the people. I would like to see the place when it snows and see it when it is fall.
